Led by Nottinghamshire Law Society's President, Lauren Crow, the team consisted of Simon Clare, Aldijana Hoad, Deputy Vice President, Drew Dennis, and charity ambassador, Debbi Marlow. They pledged to skydive for the charity Harmless and Tomorrow's Project.

On Wednesday 5th February, we hosted the first networking lunch for 2025 in Nottingham. Over the year a series of networking lunches are held across Nottinghamshire, to enable all our members to attend and meet the current President. President Lauren Crow, welcomed the members that had stepped out to join us at the trendy Binks Yard, where a feast of hot buffet was to be served. On the December 10th, we gathered at Copper to celebrate Christmas with our members. Vice President Marie Dancer warmly welcomed all present and proposed a toast to the celebrations. The evening was made even more enjoyable with musical performances by William May, while Copper's outstanding hospitality enhanced the overall experience. Photographer Jay Glenn skillfully captured the heartfelt greetings, laughter, cheerful smiles, and magical atmosphere of the night. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating Christmas!

The annual luncheon gathering of the Society's former presidents takes place on the initial Friday of December at the revered Trent Bridge Cricket Club. This year, a total of twenty four previous presidents came together to reminisce about the past years and receive updates on the Society from the Immediate Past President, Stephen Luke.

The President's Cup negotiation contest concluded at Gateley Legal on Monday, December 2nd, with the final showdown. The last round featured Francesca Townsend from Actons Solicitors and William Schlich from Geldards LLP. This prestigious event is one of three legal competitions organised by the Society for aspiring legal professionals. The competition involves selecting two finalists from the initial stage. In this phase, participants submit scenarios outlining strategies for negotiating a deal. After the finalists are chosen, they are assigned clients and must develop a negotiation agenda to engage in the actual negotiation proceedings.

On the 21st of November, we convened at the Cuban-themed eatery, Revolucion De Cuba, to celebrate the legal achievements of the newly qualified solicitors and recent tenant barristers in Nottinghamshire. The event was sponsored by BCL Legal, one of the leading legal recruitment firm in the UK. Representing the agency, Lauren Evans, an Associate at BCL Legal, was present at the occasion.

Each year, the Society organizes networking lunches at various locations throughout the county. This year, Andwhynot in Mansfield was selected as the stylish venue for the Mansfield Networking luncheon. The luncheon commenced with a warm greeting from President Lauren Crow. Despite the wintry weather outside, it didn't dampen the uplifting discussions and the overall congenial atmosphere in the room. On Thursday 7th November, we gathered at the chic Nottingham Boutique, Stick & Ribbon, for an Autumn Fashion Show supporting the President's Charity, Harmless. Five amazing models showcased their elegance and flair in five outfits ranging from casual wear to evening attire. We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event, helping to raise £175.00 for the Charity.

On Tuesday 22nd October, the new cohort of trainee solicitors and pupil barristers gathered at the historic National Justice Museum to celebrate the beginning of their legal journey in Nottinghamshire. Nottinghamshire Law Society President, Lauren Crow and distinguished judges HHJ Coupland, HHJ Sadiq, HHJ Watson and HHJ Owen were also present to greet those in attendance. The evening was off to a flying good start of conversation and new connections being made among our legal community!

This esteemed advocacy contest stands out as a unique event in the UK and holds a significant place in the history of Nottinghamshire Law Society. For over 55 years, this competition has been a regular feature, providing a platform for four finalists to showcase their advocacy skills in either criminal or civil cases, all while being evaluated by esteemed Judges from the Nottingham judiciary circuit. Participating in this competition not only hones advocacy abilities but also offers valuable free training sessions courtesy of Nottingham Law School. It is an indispensable experience for aspiring junior lawyers.

On the 29th of August, amidst the beautiful setting of Attenborough Cricket Club, two teams gathered to compete for the prestigious Cricket Shield in what was known as the 'Battle of the A52'. The teams in question were made up of solicitors hailing from Nottinghamshire Law Society and Derby & District Law Society.

On the 14th of August, the annual Radford Cup cricket match was held at Regatta Way Cricket Club. The two competing teams, one comprised of solicitors and the other of barristers, gathered to engage in a friendly yet competitive game in pursuit of the prestigious trophy. Lauren Crow, the President of the Society, was present at the match, showing her support for both teams. She expressed gratitude for their unwavering support and also extended thanks to John Hooper for sponsoring the new cricket caps for the teams.

On the 27th of July, we gathered together to partake in Nottingham PRIDE, an event that celebrates diversity, equality, and inclusivity in Nottinghamshire. The turnout this year was outstanding, with a vibrant parade that never fails to impress. The colourful displays, flags, and sense of unity are always a sight to behold, making it a truly memorable experience.

On Thursday 25th July, we met in Newark for the annual networking lunch at the beautiful Ann Et Vin, with Society President Lauren Crow and Vice President Marie Dancer. It was a day dedicated to celebrating National Cheese and Wine, with the venue alive with chatter and the start of new connections forming, as well as old ones being rekindled.

On the 4th of July, the Nottinghamshire Law Society's cricket team came together to face the NHS Medics in their inaugural match. The clash between medical professionals and legal experts, under the watchful eye of a police officer umpire, promised excitement but turned out to be a thrilling cricket match. Team captains Aaron Singh of NLS and Malin Wijeyratna of NHS tossed the coin to start the match, with the medics choosing to field first. The NLS squad took the field at the Old Nottinghamian ground at Adbolton Lane, looking sharp in their new gear sponsored by the Society and John Hooper & Co.

On Wednesday 19th June, the legal community of Nottinghamshire, came together to walk for the Access to Justice Foundation. Starting at the Magistrates Court, with lead walkers, HHJ Shant KC, HHJ Auty KC, HHJ Coupland, Nottinghamshire Law Society President, Lauren Crow, Past President & Chief Crown Prosecutor Janine McKinney, High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire Nick Rubins & Under Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Deborah Hutchinson. On Friday 26th April, we welcomed over 440 guests to the East Midlands Conference Centre, to enjoy a night of awards and top spy entertainment with James Bond 007! President Stephen Luke and Head of Operations, Michelle Foster greeted guests, with light jazz music performed by Ryan Latham and fellow musicians. The evening began with a President's Drinks Reception, kindly sponsored by Review Solicitors , the guests walked along the red carpet into the large function room, filled with illuminated martini glasses and crystal globes, kindly sponsored by Brewin Dolphin, Once again, Conference Works provided excellent sound, audio and visual effects, the East Midlands Conference Centre provided not only a beautiful venue but, fantastic food and service. We would also like to thank Create Inc for their creative event design on all the invitations and table booklets, Print Co for producing all the print work.

On Thursday 18th of April, the annual Hammond Cup competition commenced at Nottingham Law School. The courtroom was filled with anticipation as the four impressive finalists prepared for what turned out to be an enthralling final. This year, the judges presiding over the event were HHJ Coupland and HHJ Owen. The presence of the Hammond family at the event is greatly appreciated, their ongoing support for the competition established by their late father, Michael Hammond, back in 1968, is truly appreciated by the Society.

Nottinghamshire Law Society's Head of Operations, Michelle Foster has been working with the many local law societies over the last eighteen months, helping them in areas such as marketing, membership retention and event management to mention a few.

On Friday 8th March, nine fit and able participants gathered at the Park Squash Club to take on the sporting challenge of the Francis Reeson Squash Trophy. This year we had the opportunity to welcome former District Judge, Francis Reeson to watch over the tournament and umpire the semi-final rounds. Past President, Philip Turton was also on hand to give his expertise in organising the leagues and acting referee to matches.

Friday 8th March, marks International Women's Day, a special occasion to honour the women who hold positions on the Society's Council and lead as chairs of sub-committees, as well as those who have served as past and will serve as future Presidents. Let us continue to empower and support women in leadership positions, creating a more equitable and representative environment for all individuals to thrive. Together, we can work towards a future where gender equality is not just a goal but a reality, where women are truly valued and respected for their talents and contributions to society.
