On Tuesday, 12 May 2026, Nottinghamshire Law Society held its Annual General Meeting in the beautifully ornate Old Courtroom at the Dryden Centre, part of Nottingham Trent University. The event welcomed members, Council representatives and guests for an evening of prize presentations and charity acknowledgements.

On Thursday 30 April, Nottingham Law School welcomed the return of the annual Hammond Cup competition, with the courtroom alive with excitement as four exceptional finalists competed in a thrilling final. The event was overseen this year by HHJ Coe KC and HHJ Coupland. The Society is especially grateful for the continued attendance and support of the Hammond family, whose commitment honours the memory of their late father, Michael Hammond, who established the competition in 1968.

The 2026 John Pearce Quiz: A Night of Knowledge, Competition, and Community Spirit On Tuesday 17th March, members of the local legal community gathered for the much‑anticipated annual John Pearce Quiz, this year hosted at a vibrant new venue: Over The Road. The space—instantly recognisable thanks to its striking mural of Brian Clough and Jimmy Sirrel, provided the perfect atmosphere for an evening of lively competition and camaraderie.

On Wednesday 4th February, we hosted the first networking lunch for 2026 in Nottingham. Over the year a series of networking lunches are held across Nottinghamshire, to enable all our members to attend and meet the current President. President Marie Dancer and Deputy Vice President, Alidjana Hoad welcomed the members that had stepped out to join us at the trendy Binks Yard, where a feast of hot buffet was to be served. We were also delighted to welcome High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Ed Attenborough and Under Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Jeremy Stanton from Birketts Solicitors.

On Wednesday, 5th March, five very brave souls took a giant leap into the spring blue skies over Langar for charity. Led by Nottinghamshire Law Society's President, Lauren Crow, the team consisted of Simon Clare, Aldijana Hoad, Deputy Vice President, Drew Dennis, and charity ambassador, Debbi Marlow. They pledged to skydive for the charity Harmless and Tomorrow's Project.

I made the decision to join the Ghent Twinning Weekend for two reasons; to initiate my involvement in the Nottinghamshire Law Society, and to experience Ghent and the Twinning Law Society Event. Prior to this event, I had no experience with the Nottinghamshire Law Society, and I did not know what to expect. A month after the event I am still incredibly grateful for the experience and the people I met.
