Andrew Dennis Chair

Andrew is a Solicitor at Gateley Legal and the Chair of the NJLD for 2020. Andrew served on the committee in 2019 as Secretary and is delighted to be elected chair for the coming year. In his role, Andrew will ensure that the NJLD continues to offer full support for junior lawyers across the region, as well as providing excellent social and networking opportunities. Andrew will also seek to maintain and develop the strong existing relationship between the NJLD and Nottinghamshire Law Society.

As a Nottingham boy, Andrew completed his undergraduate degree in European Politics prior to completing his GDL and LPC at Nottingham Law School, with eventual qualification as a solicitor his goal. The rest, as they say, is history!

Emilie Hornby Vice Chair

Emilie is currently a Paralegal at Elvin Moore Solicitors and is soon to be a Trainee Solicitor at Austin Moore & Partners. Emilie served the committee last year as Treasurer and is looking forward to undertaking the role of Vice Chair in 2020.

Originally from France, Emilie started her journey in law at the University of Essex and has recently completed her LPC with Nottingham Law School.

Tiran Sandhu Treasurer

Tiran is a commercial property solicitor at Fraser Brown Solicitors. Tiran has served on the committee over the past 3 years as ball secretary then sports secretary and vice chair. Tiran will now be serving as the Treasurer (a role which he has assisted on in the past) as part of his continued commitment to the NJLD.

Tamara Dasht Secretary

Tamara is a trainee solicitor  in her first seat in the Commercial Dispute Resolution team at Geldards.

Originally from London, Tamara went to the University of Nottingham and completed her LPC at Nottingham Trent University. She is passionate about bringing young lawyers together in the hope of offering support and opportunities to one another.

She is a new member of the NJLD and is taking on the position of Secretary. She looks forward to the year ahead!

Jay Singh Marketing Secretary

Jay is the 2020 Marketing Secretary for NJLD. He has previously served on the committee for 2 years as Vice Chair and Academic Sectary. In Jay’s role as chair, he will ensure the NJLD continue to support young lawyers within the region as well as provide social and networking opportunities along with maintaining the relationship between the NJLD and the NLS. 

Originally from West Yorkshire, Jay attended University in Nottingham to read Law and the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School before making the permanent move to Nottingham in 2016. Jay is now a Trainee Solicitor at Fraser Brown Solicitors having worked at the firm for 2 years as a Residential Property Paralegal and a Real Estate Paralegal.

Vikky Lai Marketing Secretary

Vikky is a Paralegal at Nelsons Solicitors in the Private Client department.

Vikky went to the University of Sheffield where she completed her Law and Criminology undergraduate degree with a year abroad at the University of Luxembourg. She is now in her second year of her LPC at Nottingham Trent University.

This is Vikky’s first year on the NJLD committee and will be working alongside Jay Singh as the marketing secretary.

Sophie Britten Student Representative

Sophie is a first year Trainee Solicitor at Cartwright King Solicitors and her current seat is in mental health and education.  Sophie graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a Law degree where she then went on to complete a masters degree in Health Law and Ethics. Sophie now reading the LLM LPC part time at Nottingham Trent University and in her first year.

This will be Sophie’s first year on the NJLD committee and she will be taking on the role of Student Representative. Sophie is looking forward to meeting members of NJLD over the next 12 months and working with other students.

Jessica Jesson Membership Secretary

Jessica Jesson is an Associate at Eversheds Sutherland in the Commercial Projects team. She specialises in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial, infrastructure and IT agreements.

Jess is undertaking the role of Membership Secretary. She previously served on the Derby Junior Lawyers Committee as the National Representative in 2018. She looks forward to working with the rest of the NJLD Committee to represent and promote the interests of junior lawyers in Nottinghamshire.

Sumandeep Nahl Events Secretary

Suman is a Solicitor at Hopkins Solicitors. She practices in Commercial Property in the Nottingham office.

This is Suman’s second year on the NJLD Committee and will be working with Jess to organise events throughout the year – if you have any suggestions please get in touch. She looks forward to meeting you all.

Jessica Silvers Events Secretary

Jessica is a Solicitor at Family Law Group in Nottingham. She specialises in Family matters including public and private children cases and cases involving domestic violence.

Originally from Nuthall, Nottinghamshire, she decided to go into Law after completing work experience whilst at college in Nottingham. She went on to study Law with German at Sheffield Hallam University and graduated with a 2:1 in 2016 and then graduated from the Legal Practice Course in 2019 which she studied part-time whilst working as a Trainee Solicitor. Whilst at university Jessica completed a work placement abroad in a law firm in the USA. She is currently studying for her Master’s degree with BPP in Birmingham and a course on Child Protection through Harvard University, USA to aid with her work involving children.

Jessica looks forward to working on the committee for her second year and hopes the events provided are enjoyable for all.

Louise Hunt Ball Secretary

Louise Hunt is an Associate Solicitor at Howes Percival LLP and is one of the two Ball Secretaries. She will be working with Yasmine Roff to organise two of the biggest events in the NJLD calendar: the Summer Soiree and the Winter Ball. This is Louise’s third year on the NJLD committee.

Louise attended Nottingham Trent University where she studied Law, before completing her LPC with a Masters in Law. Louise specialises in Commercial Property work predominately advising landowner and developer clients on residential strategic and instant land matters.

Yasmine Roff Ball Secretary

Yasmine is a Trainee Solicitor at Geldards and is one of the two Ball Secretaries.  She will be working with Louise Hunt to organise the two biggest events in the NJLD calendar: the Summer Soiree and the Winter Ball.  This is Yasmine’s first year on the NJLD committee.

Yasmine is originally from Nottingham. She attended the University of Exeter, where she studied Law with International Study, before completing her LPC with Masters in Law at the University of Law. Yasmine is due to qualify in September 2020.

Naomi McFadden Sports Secretary

Naomi is a trainee solicitor at Roythornes Solicitors and Sports Secretary for 2020. After graduating from her law degree at the University of Liverpool, she completed the LPC at Nottingham Trent University.

Naomi undertook her first seat in the commercial property team at Roythornes’ head office in Lincolnshire, before returning to Nottingham for her second seat in the planning team, and current seat in Private Client. Naomi is due to qualify in September 2020.

This is Naomi’s first year on the NJLD committee. Please feel free to get in contact with Naomi if you have any suggestions for sports events.

Sarah Murray Academic Secretary

Sarah is the Academic Secretary for the 2020 NJLD committee.  She recently qualified into the Dispute Resolution team at Fraser Brown and deals with a variety of disputes including Property Litigation and Debt Recovery.

Sarah is particularly looking forward to organising the Hammond Cup this year.  This is her first appointment on the NJLD committee.

Alexandra Leeming National Law Society Representative

Alex Leeming is the National Law Representative for the National Junior Lawyers Division 2020.

She is a Trainee Solicitor at Eversheds Sutherland in Nottingham, and is originally from Nottingham. She attended the London School of Economics, where she studied Law, before completing her LPC at BPP Birmingham.

Alex is due to qualify in March 2020 into the Commercial Dispute Resolution team. Alex looks forward to meeting you all throughout the year and bringing your thoughts and opinions to the attention of Junior Lawyers Division in the future!

Abigail Blackmore Local Law Society Representative

Abigail is a trainee solicitor in the Employment Law department at Gateley Legal. Originally from Nottingham, Abigail attended the University of Bristol and thereafter completed her legal qualification at the University of Law in London.

Abigail is a new member of the NJLD and is excited to begin her role as Local Law Society Representative.

Abigail will attend a number of annual meetings held by both the NLS and the NJLD and by liaising between both committees she is keen to ensure their collaborative efforts benefit lawyers across our city.
