Legal Minds Shine at Annual John Pearce Quiz
On Thursday, 6th March, the legal profession gathered their brilliant minds for the annual John Pearce Quiz. This year, the 2024 winning team from Ropewalk Chambers brought a fresh twist to the event by incorporating creative and artistic flair into their rounds.
With over 280 participants across 55 teams, the Bierkeller on Friar Lane was brimming with joviality, lively conversations, and steins of beer. John Pearce, a former President in 1984, originally presented the Society with the sporting challenge cup back in the 80s. To this day, the quiz remains a highlight on the society's social calendar.
Ropewalk Chambers nominated Rotary Sherwood as their chosen charity, an organisation focused on local and international community projects. John Bray from Rotary Sherwood delivered a presentation ahead of the raffle ticket sales. Armed with raffle books and the trusty SumUp machine, Head of Operations, Michelle Foster, and NJLD Chair, Shannon Mould, worked the room to rally the troops for fundraising.
The quiz raised an impressive £1,477.00 for the charity. Abigail Scott announced the 2025 winners: The Mountweazels from the University of Nottingham School of Law. Peter Cartwright and his teammates joined John Pearce and society President, Lauren Crow on stage for the trophy presentation. Thank you to all those members that have provided their feedback about the event. We take this very seriously and please be assured that it will feed into the planning for future events.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, the Bierkeller for their wonderful hospitality, and Jay Glenn from SHOW Photography for capturing all the artistic impressions and joyful smiles of the teams. We look forward to seeing you again in 2026!
President, Lauren Crow with Past President, John Pearce.
