Francis Reeson Squash Tournament 2024

On Friday 8th March, nine fit and able participants gathered at the Park Squash Club to take on the sporting challenge of the Francis Reeson Squash Trophy. This year we had the opportunity to welcome former District Judge, Francis Reeson to watch over the tournament and umpire the semi-final rounds. Past President, Philip Turton was also on hand to give his expertise in organising the leagues and acting referee to matches.

Squash court 5 and 6 were where the action was going to take place, with two leagues formed - league red and league blue. After some very competitive playing, through the leagues, we finally approached the semi-finals. The leagues were shaped on the first to 15 in the game; followed by the best of 3 in the two semi-finals and final. This year we played the tournament following the American rules.

The semi-finals consisted of four players, Grant Benskin playing Liam Kyne and Kassra Powles competing against Liam Wilkinson.

Finally, the final was set with Grant Benskin, trying to retain the grasp of the Francis Reeson Trophy, having won it for two consecutive years against Liam Wilkinson. The final was extremely gripping, full audience attention as we watched them battle it out on the squash court.

Victory was declared, Liam Wilkinson had won the trophy!

Along with Francis Reeson, President Stephen Luke presented the trophy to the winner, Liam Wilkinson from Nelsons Solicitors. Here are just a few photographs of the action shots and presentations not to mention the curry gathering after the tournament with some of the tournament players.

Thank you to everyone that participated and made the evening a great sporting triumph!
