AGM Notice 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Annual General Meeting of the Society will be held at the Old Chemistry Theatre, Newton & Arkwright Building, Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham on Tuesday 9th May 2023, 6pm. Refreshments will be available from 5:30pm with the AGM starting promptly at 6pm.
The AGM is a free event to attend by all members of the Society and whilst it deals with formal matters it is also a celebration of the previous year of the Society. Canapes and refreshments will be served after the formalities of the AGM to encourage networking amongst members of the Society and to meet Council Members and sub-committee members.

1. Welcome & Apologies
2. Minutes of the last AGM, Tuesday 10th May 2022 to be approved.
3. To receive and adopt the Accounts of the Society.
4. To appoint the Auditors of the Society.
5. To receive and approve the updated Articles of Association of the Society.
6. Presentations of Prizes:
- President’s Cup 2022
- Kevin De Silva Essay Competition 2022
- Hammond Cup 2022 & 2023
- John Pearce Quiz Prize Winners and Charity Donation Announcement
- Annual Awards Dinner – Charity Donation Announcement
- Legal Walk 2022 – Highest Fundraising Team
7. To receive the report of the President for the last year.
8. Acknowledgement of Sub-Committees of the Society
9. To appoint the President of the Society
10. To appoint the Vice President of the Society
11. To appoint the Deputy Vice President of the Society
12. To re-appoint the Honorary Treasurer of the Society
13. To re-appoint the Honorary Secretary of the Society
14. To appoint the Council of the Society
15. Any other business relevant to the Annual General Meeting
Re-appointments & Nominations of Office 2023-2024
The following have been nominated for election as officers of the Society for the forthcoming year:
President: Stephen Luke
Vice President: Lauren Crow
Deputy Vice President:
Hon. Treasurer: Jeremy Allen
Hon. Secretary: Kathryn Meir
Note 1: A secret Ballot will take place for the office of Deputy Vice President, in the event that one or more additional candidates who are not members of Council shall have been nominated and seconded in accordance with the Rules and Standing Orders of the Society. Notice will be given of the candidates standing for the position ahead of the Annual General Meeting.
Note 2: The following have been nominated to fill the Local Constituency Seats:
- Broxtowe Marie Dancer Richard Nelson LLP
- Mansfield Catherine Walker Bryan & Armstrong
- Newark & Sherwood Selina Turner Larken & Co
Note 3: The following positions on Council are still vacant:
- Bar Representative (Family)
- Sole Practitioner Representative
In the absence of any other nominations in accordance with the Society's rules, the above persons will be appointed without an election.
