After the Event (ATE) Insurance is a specialist form of legal expenses insurance that is taken out after a dispute has arisen. ATE insurance typically covers liability for an opponent’s legal costs, as well as certain disbursements such as court fees, expert reports and barristers’ fees, should the case be unsuccessful. This enables claimants to pursue meritorious claims with greater confidence, reducing the potential financial exposure associated with litigation.
