International Twinning Weekend - June 2025

Following the pause due to covid, it is the turn of NLS to show off our wonderful city to our friends and guests from the Bars of Ghent and Karlsruhe.

The International Twinning Weekend is to be held on Thursday 5^th June to Saturday 7^th June 2025.

As many of you are no doubt aware, Nottinghamshire Law Society is twinned with the Bar’s of Karlsruhe in Germany and Ghent in Belgium. Each year the three societies meet for the weekend to further the bonds between us.

For those of you who have never taken part in the Twinning we strongly urge you to give it a go and meet our visiting guests. We especially welcome our junior colleagues, as it may give you confidence to go to Karlsruhe and Ghent to take part in an exchange programme to shadow lawyers in our twinned cities. 

The Nottingham weekend will kick off on the evening of Thursday 5^th June 2025 with a relaxed dinner at 7pm at Fothergills restaurant by the Castle.  If you wish to join us the menu choices need to be made by no later than 4pm on Thursday 29 May 2025. (Download Menu).

On Friday 6^th June 2025 our guests will be attending a private tour of Boots archives. We invite you to join us at 2pm for an afternoon at Trent Bridge (Nottinghamshire Cricket Club) for a chance to mingle with our guests and participate in a seminar on the English legal system followed by a private tour of Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. 

There will be drinks and nibbles. To secure a limited place please complete the booking form.

Friday evening our guests will join us at the Nottinghamshire Law Society 150^th Celebration Dinner and we hope that those of you attending will come and say hello or maybe even join us on the international tables.

Taking a break from legal matters on Saturday we will be heading out to Wollaton Hall, which is being opened up at 10am for a private tour especially for NLS and our guests, before the Hall is opened to the public. This is a unique opportunity, and we hope you can join us Wollaton Hall for this personal tour and a picnic lunch. 

This is an open invite for the Nottinghamshire Legal Community to join us for the weekend. Unfortunately, due to budget constraints anyone attending from Nottingham will need to pay their way for the events they take part in, the costs of which are set out in the attached pro-forma. We have, where possible, obtained discounts and value for money.

The weekend is fast approaching so we would ask that you let us know as soon as possible and by 4pm on Thursday 29^th May 2025 if you want to come along by completing the online pro-forma form.
