We are pleased to announce the dates have been set for the free Advocacy Training Sessions - ahead of the closing date of the Hammond Cup Advocacy Competition.

We currently do not have an application from you, if you are wanting to apply - please ensure your completed application is with us by Friday 20th February, 5pm. Please remember to state if you would like to do a Criminal or Civil application. An application form is attached to this mailing.

The free Advocacy Training Sessions will be run in conjunction with Nottingham Law School. These sessions are designed to support your preparation and enhance your advocacy skills ahead of the competition.


Advocacy Training Sessions

Dates:

Thursday 5 February 2026, 6:00pm prompt

Thursday 12 February 2026, 6:00pm prompt

Session details:

5 February: A demonstration of cross‑examination, along with discussion of key advocacy skills.

12 February: A practical session featuring advocacy exercises with individual feedback.

Venue

Both sessions will take place on Floor 1 of the Chaucer Building, in the Law School’s Courtroom Suite.

You can find the location of the Chaucer Building on the NTU City Campus map reference 1.

Please note: the NTU Tram Stop is directly in front of the Chaucer Building’s revolving door.


Please review the Hammond Cup Advocacy Skills Guidance Booklet 2026. Some areas covered in the booklet may be new to you if you are just starting out in advocacy, but you may well feel comfortable with the basic points if you have completed your vocational training courses.
