This year, Nottinghamshire Law Society proudly celebrates its 150th anniversary—a momentous milestone in our history.

To mark this occasion, we are delighted to invite you to join us at an Anniversary Dinner hosted at the stylish Cleaver & Wake on Friday, 6th June 2025. This special evening will also coincide with the international Twinning Weekend, where we will welcome our legal colleagues from Karlsruhe and Ghent to celebrate together.

We are thrilled to announce that our guest speaker for the dinner will be Her Honour Wendy Joseph KC. Until March 2022, HHJ Wendy Joseph KC served as a judge at the Old Bailey, presiding over criminal cases and trying allegations of murder and other homicide. A graduate of Cambridge in English and Law, she was called to the Bar by Gray's Inn in 1975, became a QC in 1998, and served as a full-time judge from 2007 to 2022. When she joined the Old Bailey in 2012, she was the only woman among sixteen judges and only the third woman in history to hold a permanent position there.

HHJ Wendy Joseph KC also acted as a Diversity and Community Relations Judge, fostering understanding between the judiciary and diverse community groups, particularly those from less privileged and minority backgrounds. She actively mentors’ young people from various walks of life aspiring to a career in law, with a particular focus on supporting women. HHJ Wendy Joseph KC has written two books, Unlawful Killings and most recently published Rough Justice.
