Elliot Mather LLP Appoints First Non-Lawyer as Designated LLP Member

Full-service law firm Elliot Mather LLP are delighted to announce the appointment of a new designated LLP Member – Alan Grant.

Elliot Mather demonstrates growth and success as they announce the recent appointment of Alan Grant as a Designated LLP Member. Alan is the first non-lawyer in the firm to be appointed as a Designated LLP Member, with his focus being on the strategic and operational aspects of the LLP.

Alan has been integral in the development and growth of the business in recent years, after having joined Elliot Mather in 2016 as Chief Operations Officer. With over 15 years management and leadership experience within the legal, regulatory and insurance sectors he quickly made himself invaluable to the firm. Since he joined Elliot Mather, he has planned and coordinated office relocations in three of the Firm’s locations and was also instrumental in the smooth installation of a new IT system in 2017.

Having started his career in the legal sector, before experiencing the regulatory, insurance and actuarial sectors, Alan has developed both a passion and flair for managing and developing the Practice, with his key areas of responsibility being Finance, IT, HR, Marketing, and Business Development.

Commenting on his recent appointment as Designated LLP Member, Alan said:

“It is a pleasure to be part of a business that recognises the need for diverse skills. I believe my skillset compliments those of the existing Designated Members. I am excited for the future of Elliot Mather and for the staff being developed to continue our success and growth. I am grateful for the experiences I have obtained in different professional industries and look forward to the challenges within the legal sector.”

In his new role, Alan will retain overall responsibility for Finance, HR, IT, Marketing and Admin but will also shift his emphasis to the strategic development of the firm.

Julie Page, Managing Partner and LLP Member said:

“From the day Alan joined Elliot Mather, he quickly made himself indispensable as he brought with him a range of skills and experience gained from outside the legal sector.  Not only has Alan dealt successfully with a number of key operational issues around IT and office premises, he has also worked alongside the existing Designated Members to set the strategic direction of the firm.

We believe the appointment of our first non-lawyer Designated Member reflects our belief that if law firms are to grow and develop, the Senior Leadership Team needs a wide and varied skill set that goes beyond legal skills.  We believe Alan brings those additional skills to Elliot Mather and we want him to feel integral to the Firm’s future development.”
