24 days holiday plus bank holiday, including 4 days over Christmas when the offices close.

The Role


As part of our commitment as a training provider we endeavor to provide the trainee solicitor or paralegal with the training, guidance and experience necessary to enable them to develop the key skills and expertise required by the SRA to become a qualified, experienced solicitor, legal executive or paralegal.

It is necessary for you to be confident in dealing with clients and other professionals.

You need to provide a valuable contribution to the work of each department to which you have been allocated a seat, to assist each training principal with their daily workload and to provide practice support both departmentally and generally within the firm.

If selected for a training contract, the duration of the Training Contract is 2 years, in which you will be given the opportunity to gain training and experience in at least three substantive areas of English Law, covering both contentious and non-contentious work.

If selected for a part-time LPC, the candidate will work for 3 years during which time they will complete their LPC on a part-time basis.

The Applicants

Hopkins is a full-service law firm and as such, if successful, you will be exposed to a full range of work during the period of your training contract or while gaining experience as a paralegal.

You will have significant direct exposure to clients and live files.

Applications will be considered from individuals who are looking for either:

  • a formal training contract, or
  • a paralegal position either as part of formal ILEX or CILEX training or otherwise, or
  • someone who wishes to obtain their LPC on a part-time basis.

We have always adopted a flexible approach to these issues.

Historically we have taken up to three new trainees / paralegals from each recruitment round.

Our track record in relation to full time qualified roles for those who train with it, is good. 

  • All past trainees have been offered roles in a full-time capacity or have gone on to successful careers as solicitors.
  • Four of the current five Equity Partners trained with the firm.
  • The most recent salaried partner joined as a trainee in 2015
  • Over half of our current Associates trained with the firm as did three Assistant Solicitors.
