Contentious Probate Case Law Update
Join the Private Client Committee at the second seminar of the year, this time focussing on Contentious Probate Case Law. The seminar begins with a networking lunch, followed by presentations from Robert Hill, Director, and Max Orbach, Managing Associate, both from Freeths LLP. There will also be a presentation from Brewin Dolphin. Seminar outline: A recent case law update on probate and trusts, primarily aimed at non-litigators. The seminar presentations will review the common types of contentious probate disputes and provide an update on the many interesting cases from the last 12-18 months
AML & Compliance Update with Trevor Hellawell
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has galvanised much of the activity within compliance circles, as has the Treasury approval of the LSAG Guidance note and the issue of an OFSI Red Alert on sanctions evasion in July 2022. Financial irregularity on a kleptocratic scale is not the only matter concerning regulators, as further changes to the AML compliance regime have further complicated our obligations, and relaxations to the ethical regime and Accounts Rules have muddied the waters still further. This update will consider the implications of these changes and will explore the approach of the SRA in particular to the blizzard of bureaucracy with which law firms now have to comply.
