Presenter:

Paul Burch, grew up in Nottinghamshire and started his career in the Probate Registry in 1968, at the Nottingham District Probate Registry. In 1972, Paul gained his first promotion and moved to Birmingham District Probate Registry, followed by a return to Nottingham again, before heading to Winchester District Probate Registry finally ending his career at Manchester District Probate Registry, with retirement in 2008. 

With over forty years' experience in the Probate Service he has contributed  to the reference work Williams Mortimer and Sunnucks, wrote and delivered technical traiing to senior probate service staff and professionally lectured on the subject of Non-Contentious Probate.   Since retiring in 2008, Paul has been providing consultancy support in the field of Non-Contentious Probate practice and procedure to a growing number of practitioners.  His client base now extends across the Northwest, the Midlands and Wales.

The seminar content:

Paul will discuss the following:

  • general update on the changes in practice over recent times
  • tips on how to deal with bespoke applications
  • common errors and pitfalls
  • history of dramatic changes in the way the Probate Service operates
  • consequential changes to practice
  • how to deal with applications for example lost wills, ad colliegenda etc.
