Pause for thought….

After a whirlwind of activity around the Annual Awards Dinner, April appeared to be a little calmer – or was it?

No, on the contrary!

We had our last session of PSC Electives with trainees from Rothera Sharp, Fraser Brown, Roythornes, Shacklocks LLP, Austin Moore & Partners, Robert Barber Solicitors & Family Law Group in attendance.  The cohort this year have been a delight to have at the Hub and, I wish them all continued success in their legal careers.

Then it was the 51st Hammond Cup competition, a great evening showing advocacy skills at their best from the participants, Sarah, Alexis, Frank & Callum.  It was also great to have the support of the Hammond family, two generations in attendance and truly pleased that the competition is still an active and important element of the Nottinghamshire Law Society’s calendar.

Easter gave a brief break, a moment to press ‘pause’ and with the sunshine and mini heatwave, it was the perfect rest time required before, I began work on the AGM.

Not to be outshone by the Annual Awards Dinner, the AGM gave us all some last-minute excitement, with 2 hours on the clock before the opening of the AGM, we had to announce a venue relocation due to a gas leak!

Life is never dull in the NLS Office!

Finally, to begin May, we had our annual summer shopping experience at Paul Smith’s Designs.  The wonderful Willoughby House opened its doors offered a glass of prosecco and canapés to our members.

Thank you to Janine Smith from the Crown Prosecution Service, 1 High Pavement, Actons Solicitors & Nelsons Solicitors for supporting the event and enjoying a little retail therapy.

So, what does summer have to offer?

We have a summer drinks reception at Stratstone Land Rover on Tuesday 25th June.   After the success of the Maserati Joint President’s Drinks Reception in February 2018, we are joining forces with ICAEW (East Midlands) and CIOT.

This year we will be fund-raising for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, we hope you will be able to join us to make a difference!

Best wishes,

Michelle
