Wow, wow, wow!

Finally, a chance to sit down and read all the fantastic emails, posts and tweets on social media.

Friday 5th April, saw the Annual Award Dinner unfold at the Newton & Arkwright Building, and what an evening it was….

From the moment you stepped through the doors, the buzz of a great night was ahead, welcomed by the illuminated NLS we saw everyone begin the evening with glass of bubbles, smiles and music from the Kit Mason Trio.

Robert Persell, our wonderful Toast Master, called us all into dinner and, the President entered the room to Queen’s ‘Don’t stop me now’ with the highly influential guests including the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, High Sheriff, Deputy Lieutenant HHJ Michael Stokes QC and Chief Executive of The Law Society, Paul Tennant.

Entertainment surprised us in many ways, with the magician Alex Michael and the caricaturist Fab Frederico, not to mention the UK Dance Team, with their amazing tap dance routine, which had us all toe-tapping. Later on a packed dance floor, Ginny Brown and the Collective impressed with a constant stream of dance floor classics.

The Annual Awards, kindly sponsored by Ropewalk Chambers, Eversheds-Sutherland, 1 High Pavement, KCH Garden Square, Currency Index and OYEZ Office Team, this year had that special touch, with videos from those who had nominated.  It was a great pleasure meeting everyone in the making of the videos and visiting the offices to make the recordings.  I must also say, hearing the dedications first hand, made the experience an emotional one, for you all had good reasons why the nominations were made.  Thank you all for being good sports!

I would like to say a huge thank you to all our event sponsors, Conference Works were amazing, with a fantastic stage, visuals, light & sound – they set the scene for a great evening.  Thanks also to NCC for catering and hospitality, Ginger Root Print & Design for trophies and event material, Paul Smith & Keishi Jewellery for the wonderful table gifts, Coco In The Country for the beautiful flowers, In Touch for hosting a perfect, and possibly the best ever President’s Drink Reception and finally our annual sponsors JLT Group and Severn Trent Water Searches for showing their support to their local law society.

Nottinghamshire Law Society entertained guests from near and far on Friday, with style and energy, as evidenced by the subsequent deluge of photos, tweets and other social media posts, which are still coming in.

It was a pleasure to organise and I look forward to seeing you all at next year’s Annual Awards Dinner!
