As you read this, we are all experiencing the latest lifting of lockdown restrictions, the opportunity to dine inside, attend football games and even hug someone is now allowed!

Hopefully, as we head towards June 21st, we can begin to open our networking events again so please watch this space.

In the meantime, we have still been busy socialising in our virtual Zoom rooms, with webinars, socialising with the cheese & wine  Evening with Gary Bell QC,  the Hammond Cup advocacy competition and finally our second online AGM in the Society’s history.

The AGM was attended by Lubna Shuja, Vice President of The Law Society where we were praised for continued work to provide for our memberships:

“Nottinghamshire Law Society represents a sterling example of an excellent regional society… who have been one of the most active law societies over the pandemic period.”

Lubna Shuja, Vice President, The Law Society

As a Society, we were thrilled to hear such praise and recognition by Chancery Lane.

As ever, we continue to stride ahead and provide for all our members and working alongside the Equality and Diversity Committee, we have put together a ‘Happy Zoom Café’ for members to pop into for a chat.  Hopefully, we will be able to host these face to face in the future but, just for starters we have the pop up chat rooms available on Wednesday 9th June (4:30pm-5:30pm) and Friday 25th June (1pm – 2pm).

Our recent webinars on Family Law and Imposter Syndrome were well attended.  As we approach the Autumn period, watch out for more webinars on mental health awareness and imposter syndrome.

Membership Benefits

Paul Smith has an exclusive offer for our members this Spring/Summer with over 30% off their Private Sale, excluding Zebra, PS Happy, interiors and AW21 ranges.  Another opportunity for our members is the Catena networking programme, at present they are online but, once the restrictions ease, here is yet another opportunity to step outside and network with fellow professionals in Nottinghamshire.

Finally, I can say the wedding day diet has begun in earnest as the fourth wedding date comes into view on the calendar, fingers crossed the 16th July happens!

We hope that as the UK eases itself out of lockdown that we will see you at a social event in the Autumn, so watch this space for information on what is happening at your local law society.

Best wishes,

Michelle Taylor
