NJLD News May 2021

Edition: May 2021

Welcome to my latest bulletin as Chair of the NJLD for 2021. I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

It has been an extremely long 15 months for everyone, however the Committee and I are extremely positive that we will indeed be out of lockdown in the near future and on our way back to (some form of) normality. That can only mean one thing - that we can meet in person and make Zoom-itis a thing of the past!

Behind the scenes, our Events Team are finalising exciting events which will take place in the near future, subject to Boris’ 21 June “road-map” to freedom. With vaccines continuing to be administered across the UK, the position with Covid-19 is continuing to improve, subject to this new “Indian variant”. We can’t wait to see all our members again, so please bear with us!

Save the Date

We are currently finalising the details for our (almost) annual Rounders Tournament which is scheduled to take place on 2 August 2021 at Highfields. Competition is always fierce, however this event is a winner and is sure to be fun for all.

I certainly have very little ability when it comes to the rounders field, however I’ve always enjoyed myself and the planned post-event BBQ is worth coming for on its own!

For more details and information on how to book your place please keep an eye on our Social Media platforms.

Membership

We are always looking for new members to boost the NJLD throughout the region. Sign up now so that you don't miss out on everything the NJLD has to offer during 2021.

As you know, we have not been able to hold most of our planned social activities and events this year. As a result, we have rolled the Nottinghamshire Junior Lawyers Division membership forward for 2021. If you are already a member, then your membership has automatically continued in 2021, free of charge.

Should you be interested in joining the NJLD or have any questions in respect of membership, please do not hesitate to contact our membership secretary, Jessica Jesson, via JessicaJesson@eversheds-sutherland.com.  Alternatively, please contact me on Andrew.Dennis@gateleylegal.com.

If your firm, chamber or company has placement students, Paralegals, Pupil Barristers, Trainees or newly qualified Solicitors / recently called Barristers (up to 5 years PQE/BPTC) then consider the benefits that the NJLD's educational, professional, social and sporting networks can offer them.  For further information please see the NJLD Webpage https://www.nottslawsoc.org/about-njld

Should you have any questions in relation to this bulletin, please do not hesitate to contact me via Andrew.dennis@gateleylegal.com.

All the best and stay safe on the corona-coaster,

Andrew Dennis
