NJLD News July 2021

Edition: July 2021

Welcome to my latest bulletin as Chair of the NJLD for 2021. I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

I’m sure we’re all delighted that “Freedom Day”, i.e. 19th July will be upon us next week, when we will finally be allowed to embrace “the new normal”. Fingers crossed, this will mean that we can all see each other again properly, in person!

We are finalising our plans for our “comeback” set of events and we will release these details to you in the near future. With vaccines continuing to be administered across the UK at an ever-increasing rate, we will hopefully see the back of this “Indian variant” and lockdown for good. I can’t speak for everyone else, but I’ve forgotten what it’s like to go “out out”! We really can’t wait to see all our members again.

Save the Date

Our (almost) annual Rounders Tournament is now scheduled to take place on 2 August 2021 at Highfields in Nottingham. Competition is always fierce, and we would encourage as many firms as possible to take part to allow people to interact as much as anything else! This event is a winner and is sure to be fun for all.

I certainly have very little ability when it comes to the rounders field, however I’ve always enjoyed myself at this particular event. The planned post-event BBQ is worth coming for on its own and if the weather is good, where else would you want to be?

Full details will be announced shortly, so please keep an eye on your emails for a flyer.

We are always looking for new members to boost the NJLD throughout the region. Sign up now so that you don't miss out on everything the NJLD has to offer during 2021.

As you know, we have not been able to hold most of our planned social activities and events this year. As a result, we have rolled the Nottinghamshire Junior Lawyers Division membership forward for 2021. If you are already a member, then your membership has automatically continued in 2021, free of charge.

Should you be interested in joining the NJLD or have any questions in respect of membership, please do not hesitate to contact our membership secretary, Jessica Jesson, via JessicaJesson@eversheds-sutherland.com.  Alternatively, please contact me on Andrew.Dennis@gateleylegal.com.

If your firm, chamber or company has placement students, Paralegals, Pupil Barristers, Trainees or newly qualified Solicitors / recently called Barristers (up to 5 years PQE/BPTC) then consider the benefits that the NJLD's educational, professional, social and sporting networks can offer them.  For further information please see the NJLD Webpage https://www.nottslawsoc.org/about-njld
