We are pleased to announce the latest news from the Education and Training Committee of the Nottinghamshire Law Society.

Most recently, we have been working behind the scenes to create a ‘Mentoring’ programme for our Junior Lawyers and trainees.

As you know, Nottinghamshire Law Society is a proactive local law society and provides a major source of training for the legal profession.  We believe it is in our best interests to invest further in the training of the new legal professionals of Nottingham.

It is important that as a Society, we are seen to be supporting by means of professional career development and career advice as well as providing a support system for our junior lawyers.

The purpose of our mentoring programme will be as follows:

  • To provide mentoring support in career progression and professional development for junior lawyers/trainees.
  • To assist in the development of volunteer mentors.
  • To match volunteer mentors with potential mentees.

We are hoping that among our membership, we will find keen legal professionals that would like to join us as a Mentor.

The programme will run from November 2020 beginning with two half day training sessions for the mentor followed by a pairing session with the mentees in December.  Training and review sessions will be scheduled for 2021.  All these sessions will be delivered by virtually, via the Zoom media platform.

There is no cost for the mentor or mentee to enrol on the mentoring programme.

The dates for the half-day training sessions are as follows:

  • Thursday 5th November                   -           10am – 1pm
  • Thursday 12th November                 -           10am – 1pm

The session where we pair mentors to mentees will be scheduled for:

  • Thursday 3rd December                  -           12pm – 3pm

The mentoring training and pairing evening will be delivered online via Zoom.
